Grandest fire we've had for a while, from a collapsing but once very grand house. We thought at first it was a pine and gesso surround but it appears to be carved wood (except possibly the circular cartouche's) and comes with a marble trim around the inside of the surround (not shown here as difficult to prop up), these lovely curved marble side cheeks, a cast iron and brass back panel and the fire basket which should be polished steel/iron. most of the fire basket is forged rather than cast and has had very little use (and it was boarded up behind the surround). It will clean up a treat but we thought it worth while to get a pic up as we brought it in.
