Georgian Gesso surround

Lovely Gesso fire surround shown here with a Georgian grate from the old Lochwinnoch castle-so I'm told. These gesso fires are a nightmare to strip and if heavily painted can cost a 4 figure sum to get stripped as it has to be carefully dome by hand using non water based strippers, but happily, this one isn't painted. It came from a heavily modified Georgian house in Fife which alas is coming down this month. There is a chance that this fire isn't an original Georgian one but may have been made by Kim Roberts who was really the best person for copying these, trained by whyttock and Reid as a cabinet maker, he used only traditional methods, styles and proportions.
The sort of fire that would suit an Edinburgh New town property.
