Details of Victorian Fireplaces

Slightly unusual pine fire surround

This came from the old Partick Baptist church just off Byers rd, a beautiful slightly Grecian building dating to the 1860's ( I think) but which sadly has serious structural issues, though the bulk of the building is to remain. We have 2 of these, though only one has been restored so far and they are more unusual in having hardly any overhang on the shelf. We had a customer in recently who was looking for an Alexander 'Greek' Thomson style of fire, and this is what we sorted out for her, where upon she said what she was after was something more fancy with patterns on. And so not very 'Greek' Thomson after all!, so here it is, in our opinion, A fairly 'Greek' Thomson kind of a fire.
Shown with a typical Victorian tiled insert.
