Foundry moulds, the tip of the iceberg
Probably some of the same pics as on the Facebook/instagram page, but I love them so much I'll put the pic anywhere. Hundreds of them. Blower units for turbo chargers, parts of ships funnels, wheels and pulleys, even a few more modern ones for holding core samples from nuclear power stations, and all carved wood. The bare timber ones are generally pre war, the orange bits are the pieces to be cast and the black bits are to be formers, or effectively, the gaps. From companies like James Robbs shipbuilders of Leith and United Wire of Granton. Shown in all their grubby glory
They've come from Laings foundry in Edinburgh where I've been priveliged to watch them do a lot of their casting over the years, in fact, if we don't have the right sort of railings in stock, these people will make them for you.
Amazing place.
And more to come.
