Details of Victorian Fireplaces

Simple pine surround with arched insert

Lovely arched insert with an 19 inch opening (unusually big) that we've had extended to be 42 inches sq, really nice crisp pattern on it. The surround came from an 1860's house over in Dunoon which was more or less demolishing itself it was so crumbly, but the things inside-mainly the doors were so well made, and out of such good materials that we managed to save really quite a lot, in fact the doors have stripped to be spotless. This fire was partially stripped when we saw it which was a shame as layers of paint often protect things in these situations, and there had been a leaking the roof above for some time, and even after all that, it still looks good. A slight stain on the shelf as a souvenir of its travails but nothing more. It lives another day.
Of course, just because we've shown these things together, it doesn't mean we have to sell them together, you're welcome to mix and match.
