Details of Victorian Sanitary Ware

What a peach this is.
We've been very low on sanitary ware of late and were pleased to be able to buy this very early wash hand basin which has a sort of plunger mechanism as opposed to a plug. Made by Shanks of Barrhead its quite big at 28 inches wide by 21 from front to back, but we were particularly pleased to buy it as it happens to fit a lovely decorative cast iron bracket that we got in the previous week.
The china on these earlier sinks doesn't seem as durable as the later ones and there is a fair bit of crazing as can be seen, but then its 140 years old or something, old enough to have been party to the shavings of a fair few walrus moustache's and mutton chops.
